Acton Police Station to open for Christmas

£9 million refit complete after over a year's work

The long awaited return of Acton Police station is now scheduled before the end of the year. Renovation work began in July 2004 and after a £9 million pound refit and will re-open as a fully operational police station on Thursday 22nd December. The station is at the junction of Horn Lane and Acton High Street.

The end result of the renovation according to the police will be a modern, flexible and affordable police building with space to accommodate rising police numbers and facilities focused on the priorities of modern policing.

Whilst the renovation process took place the station reception area was closed and any operational officers, police staff and CID officers who were based at Acton Police Station were re-housed at Ealing and Southall Police Stations.

During the redevelopment Ealing Borough Police has provided a temporary station office facility at the side of the existing police building on Lexden Road near the junction with Horn Lane. This temporary station office is currently open daily from 6am – 10pm to allow members of the local community to report crime, antisocial behaviour, produce documents and receive general advice etc.

However this temporary station office facility will close at 10pm on Tuesday 13th December to allow contractors to complete the necessary work on the renovation process prior to Acton Police Station’s official re-opening at 6am on Thursday 22nd December.

Chief Superintendent Colette Paul, of Ealing Borough Police apologised for the closure of the temporary station facility and asked Acton residents who needed to report crime, gain advice or present documents to attend Ealing station instead.

Residents could also attend the police enquiry desk within Ealing Council’s Customer Centre at Perceval House on the Uxbridge Road, for non-emergency issues such as producing your driving documents, reporting a traffic accident or reporting lost property, which is open from Monday to Friday between the hours of 0900hrs – 1700hrs. Alternatively residents can use the Non-Emergency Telephone Number 020-8810-1212 to report crime.

Acton Police station has received a complete make over and there is now a three storey extension at the back of the station which will double the amount of office space. The police say this will help them deal with the rising number of police officers. There will also be an increase in the number of custody cells from 3 to 20, improved disabled access and more interview rooms.
