Air Quality Brentford is inviting residents to an evening of film, conversation and climate awareness as it hosts a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing at the King’s Arms pub on Wednesday 8 July at 7pm. The organisers are encouraging people to arrive early to buy drinks and settle in before the film begins, with free tickets available but limited in number.

The 50-minute documentary has been touring community venues across the UK and has quickly gained a reputation for its frank, accessible approach to the climate and nature crisis. Featuring Chris Packham, leading scientists, a former military general and actor Jennifer Saunders, the film sets out what current research says about the risks facing the UK and what those changes could mean for everyday life. It combines expert testimony with data visualisations and short explanatory segments, aiming to make complex information understandable without losing its urgency.

The film condenses key sections of the National Emergency Briefing, a three-hour presentation originally delivered to MPs, peers and senior stakeholders in Westminster. That briefing was created by a coalition of scientists, policy specialists and campaign groups to summarise the latest evidence on climate-related threats, from extreme weather and biodiversity loss to economic vulnerability. The People’s Emergency Briefing is designed to bring that material to a wider public audience, encouraging local conversations about what can still be done.

After the screening, there will be a short discussion led by Air Quality Brentford, offering space for reflections, questions and ideas about how residents can contribute to positive change. Organisers expect the event to fill up quickly, as similar screenings elsewhere have sold out.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.
