Breastfeeding Support Programme

Peer to peer support in the borough

A group of mums who have breastfed their babies will celebrated their achievement of passing a breastfeeding peer support programme, enabling them to deliver support and information to other breastfeeding mums in the borough.

The 6 women were been trained by Sarah Miller, NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor, who ran the training course which was commissioned by Hounslow PCT in conjunction with the NCT.

A celebratory event will took place on Thursday 22nd March, at the South Isleworth Children’s Centre, where the women were presented with their certificates.

The Peer Supporters will work alongside Breastfeeding Counsellors in Children Centres across the borough delivering support and information to other mums to help them to breastfeed for as long as they want to.  The real life experience of these mums often helps to encourage others to keep going.
