Isleworth Man Arrested as Football Fans Clash

A 38-year-old man from Isleworth has been arrested after an altercation between rival football fans near Euston station last Saturday evening (15 April).
A group of around forty Brentford and Coventry City fans clashed with the footage being widely shared on social media.
The police made two arrests after the incident on of which is believed to have been of Dean Wells who was previously a professional footballer. He made one brief appearance as a substitute for the Bees in 2003 having joined the club at youth level but spent most of his career with non-league clubs including Hampton and Richmond Borough. Most recently he was assistant manager at Bedfont and Feltham.
The mobile phone footage of the incident appears to show him as being actively involved in the confrontation between the two sets of fans.
Wells has a previous conviction for football related violence having found guilty of affray in 2011 for being involved in a pre-arranged fight between supporters of Leyton Orient and Brentford outside Liverpool Street station. He served six months in jail for the offence for two years after which he was only allowed to visit football stadiums if he was playing.
Wells said after his release that being sent to jail was ‘the best thing that could ever have happened to me’ and a ‘serious reality check’ which allowed him to ‘get his head right’.
It is believed that the fight at the station was not pre-arranged but that the two groups encountered each other outside the Royal George pub as the Brentford fans were returning from an away fixture in Wolverhampton and the Coventry City fans were waiting to board trains home after playing QPR.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said, ‘Police were called at approximately 20:10hrs on Saturday, 15 April to reports of disorder involving a number of people in Eversholt Street, NW1.
‘Officers, including British Transport Police officers, attended.
‘Two men were arrested – one on suspicion of GBH and violent disorder, and one on suspicion of violent disorder. Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.
‘Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing including to identify anyone else who was involved.’
