Police Investigate Attempted Murder at Clitheroe's Lock

Detectives have launched an attempted murder investigation after a man was seriously injured in a violent attack near Clitheroe’s Lock on the Brentford stretch of the Grand Union Canal.
Emergency services were called to Transport Avenue at around 10.20pm on Tuesday 4 August following reports that a man had been assaulted with an axe. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service, where they found a man in his forties suffering from severe axe wounds. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as life‑changing.
The attack took place close to Lock 99, between Transport Avenue and Boston Manor Park. Residents reported hearing shouting and screaming around the time of the incident, and a Met forensic team carried out a detailed search of the towpath overnight.
The canal and towpath remained closed on Thursday as officers continued their enquiries, with boats being turned back while the investigation was underway. No arrests have yet been made.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information that could help identify the attacker.
