An Isleworth park is the pick of the bunch after some fruity new additions to the local landscape.

The open space at Farnell Road in Isleworth has just become home to a mini orchard of 18 new apple and pear trees. They may be mere saplings at present, but in the years to come these trees will go on to bear fruit that is ripe enough for picking.

Farnell Road is a popular destination for the local community and it is well-used by residents who want to walk, play or simply enjoy a touch of nature on their doorstep.

The tree planting is part of a series of upgrades planned for Farnell Road, including more tree and shrub planting, new relaxed seating, a play maze, stepping logs and pollinator and bug hotels.

Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, Councillor Samia Chaudhary, joined ward councillor colleagues Karen Smith, Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Youth Services, Shaida Mehrban and workers from the Council’s parks partner GreenSpace 360 to plant the new trees.

Cllr Chaudhary said: “We want everyone in Hounslow to take pride in their parks and open spaces. That’s why we are working hard to improve them for everyone to enjoy. By planting this orchard we want to give the community and all the park’s users a new focal point where they can watch nature grow.

“We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this project and our partners from GreenSpace 360.”

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
