Footballers Wanted for FC Griffin Park

New Sunday league team has been set up in Brentford

FC Griffin Park

FC Griffin Park is a new Sunday league team based in Brentford. The team has recently been created and has been entered into the Chiswick & District Sunday Football League.

This team is named in memory of Griffin Park, the iconic home of Brentford FC from 1904 to 2020.

This is a team of Brentford FC fans, Brentford residents, and their friends aiming to fill the gap created by the demise of other Brentford FC supporters’ teams.

The squad includes a few ‘experienced’ players from previous fans teams, and they are looking for a new generation of players to join them. More than anything else, they say they are looking for enthusiastic and committed footballers who play for the love of the game. They will be competitive, but are not a win-at-all-costs club and it is more important to them that the squad enjoys playing together on the pitch and socialising together off it.

They are training through the summer at Gunnersbury Park on Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Sunday mornings at 11am in preparation for the new season, which is due to start on Sunday 20 September.

They also have a 6-a-side team called FC Brentford that competes in the Gunnersbury Park PlayFootball League. The league is currently suspended but is looking to restart in the coming months. FC Brentford has a 100% winning record from the one league game that was played before lockdown. Matches take place on Wednesday evenings, earliest KO time is 6.40pm, the latest KO time is 8.20pm.

If you are interested in joining the team email fcgriffinpark2020@gmail.com or message/call Rhys Williams on 07580 583 466.
