Hounslow & District History Society Hosts August Exhibition

Residents with an interest in the borough’s past will have the chance to explore centuries of local heritage this month, as the Hounslow & District History Society stages a week-long history display at Hounslow United Reformed Church Hall.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday 18 to Saturday 22 August, with the hall open daily from 11am to 4pm. Members of the society will be on hand throughout to welcome visitors, answer questions and share stories from the area’s rich and varied past. Alongside table-top displays covering different aspects of local history, a talk will take place each afternoon at 2.30pm, offering a deeper look at themes connected to the borough’s development.
The society focuses on the towns and villages that once bordered Hounslow Heath and now form the modern London Borough of Hounslow—including Cranford, Heston, Hounslow, Isleworth, Osterley, Bedfont, Feltham and Hanworth. Its work highlights the people, industries and landscapes that have shaped these communities over time.
Visitors to the August exhibition will also be encouraged to consider joining the society, which offers a wide-ranging programme of illustrated talks on the last Tuesday of each month from September to April (excluding December). Members receive the society’s twice-yearly journal, The Honeslaw Chronicle, which features original research and fresh retellings of local stories. Contributions from members are welcomed by the editor.
Membership costs £15 per year for individuals and £22 per year for households. A concessionary rate of £10 per year is available for those unable to attend meetings but who wish to receive the journal.
