Isleworth Bowls Club Launches Children's Team

Based in Redlees Park, it is believed to be first in the UK


Team now just needs other clubs to play against

Isleworth Bowls Club, which has been operating in Redlees Park since it was first founded in 1934, has launched a new children's team, believed to be the first of its kind to operate in the country.

The team play on a Saturday morning between 11am-1pm (weather permitting) and it is open to new members.

As Isleworth is the first children’s team in the country, it currently lacks other teams to compete against, so the club is looking to extend sport provision to all Hounslow schools.

The club also runs adult bowls sessions twice a week on Sunday mornings and Wednesday afternoons and has begun putting on events to bring in revenues to secure the club’s future.

In 2019, the club had 17 members but today it has grown to 374 members, with 70 members bowling on a weekly basis and many more training to play.

Sue Sampson, secretary of Isleworth Bowls Club, said, “Isleworth Bowls Club has a long and rich history and I am keen to preserve this vital sport in our local area for decades to come. The club has been working hard to promote membership following the COVID pandemic to help make the sport sustainable. We are now reaching out to the next generation to carry on the sport in Isleworth. They are the future of bowls in our area.
