Decision Set to Be Made on Pasta Evangelists Application

Councillors on the borough Licensing Panel are set to meet to consider the application by Pasta Evangelists for an extension of the operating hours of a delivery service on Ealing Road.
They will be making their decision this Tuesday (21 March).
The company, which supplies meals based on fresh pasta, has based a so-called dark kitchen at the site of the former Real Dragon Chinese takeaway. This provides meals for delivery through apps like Uber Eats and Deliveroo but does not offer a takeaway service from the premises.
The application wants to extend the operating hours of the premises until 2am. In return the company says it will agree to a number of conditions including encouraging all the riders who make the deliveries not to congregate in front of the building, leave their engines running when parked or obstruct the highway or the pavement. It would also provide a telephone number for the premises and/or a member of the management team should residents wish to raise any concerns.
There have been a objections to the application including from the landlord of the building who also lives in the flat above who says that she has already suffered from excessive noise emanating from employees of the business.
Cllr Guy Lambert has made a representation against the application pointing out that there is a double yellow line in front of 27 Ealing Road. He says, “It is not conceivable that any pick ups of deliveries will not breach local stopping restrictions. This will lead to a lack of respect for road regulations and also create inconvenience (and perhaps danger) for other road users. With 4 separate ‘take aways’ operating at the same time from a small former shop, this is likely to lead to noise and other behaviour issues.”
There are four different trading names registered on Just Eat for this address: Wicked Burgers, Pasta Evangelists, Eqqsquisite, Wraps and Wings. Cllr Lambert points out that this should cause concern about the scale of the operation adding, “It seems relevant to me to also set out the extent of this outfit. This may be a brave attempt to corner the takeaway market in Brentford, but I am afraid it is based in the wrong place and appears to be happy to ignore local rules.”
Pasta Evangelists is owned by Italian-based food conglomerate Barilla, which acquired the London-based start-up in 2021.
