Tributes Paid to OWGRA Chair Cliff Assi
Community leader and charity volunteer was driving force of residents' group

Cliff Assi, long-serving community leader and charity volunteer, has died aged 74 after a long illness.
Cliff Assi, who chaired the Osterley & Wyke Green Residents’ Association (OWGRA) since 2017 and was widely known for his charitable work across west London, passed away peacefully on 21 April after receiving palliative care. He had been unwell for some time.
Assi played a central role in revitalising OWGRA following its re-formation in 2016, helping to re-establish the group as a respected voice for residents in Osterley, Wyke Green and the surrounding areas. Under his leadership, OWGRA became known for its professional representation at civic events, memorial services and local consultations, where Mr Assi was often seen speaking on behalf of the community.
Beyond his work with OWGRA, Mr Assi was deeply involved in charitable organisations including The Lions Club and the Freemasons, where he was recognised for his commitment to service and philanthropy. His colleagues described him as a man of integrity and compassion who gave generously of his time to support local causes.
OWGRA’s website notes that Mr Assi’s tenure coincided with a period of renewed engagement and visibility for the association, which had struggled for years with limited membership before his appointment as chair.
He leaves behind a loving family, who have requested that no flowers be sent. Instead, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Societyand Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, two charities close to his heart.
A funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday 6 May at Hanworth Crematorium, followed by prayers and lunch at the Gurdwara (Sikh Temple), New Building, Alice Way, Hounslow, TW3 3UA, at approximately noon.
His colleagues at OWGRA said his leadership “represented the local community with dignity and professionalism,” and that his legacy would continue.
