The GCSE and A Level year groups are both celebrating an excellent set of results in what has been a tricky year for all students.

The Year 11 group were praised for their resilience and perseverance. Most students will be staying at the school’s Sixth Form with wide breadth of subjects represented after this year’s enrolment.

The top performer was Arjun Notay who earned the school’s best-ever GCSE results with a clean sweep of 9s – ten in total. He will spend the next two years with at the school preparing for an aeronautical engineering degree via A levels in mathematics, physics and engineering – all to fulfil his dream of becoming a pilot. The school was also celebrating the successes of Matthew Nunan, Bryn Horton and Lorenzo Piola, who earned a staggering twenty-one grade 9s between them. All three will study A levels at the school to prepare themselves for life at university in September 2023.

Headteacher Mr Ferguson commented, “My congratulations to the students for this fantastic set of results. As they move into the Sixth Form, we will do everything we can to support them with their next steps – whatever they may be. I would also like to thank my staff who have gone above and beyond throughout the last year, including becoming the examiners for this talented cohort.”

Isleworth and Syon School’s A Level results were equally impressive. Deputy Head Boy Morgan Lawrence has earned a place at King’s College London to read psychology, while classmate Billy Mwangi will join him at the same institution, studying an accounting and finance degree.

The school’s first-ever Head Girl, Alina Gangotra, will use her A levels in art, French and English literature to read architecture at the University of Nottingham.

Headteacher Mr Ferguson commented, “I would like to give my sincere congratulations to all the students for their results. Our students have risen to the challenges of the past 18 months and should be extremely proud of what they have achieved. My thanks also to the staff who have worked tirelessly as both teachers and examiners this year. We wish students well with their next steps.”

“Today’s results are a huge achievement for Hounslow’s brilliant pupils, teachers and schools, and I want to thank every one of you for making your community so proud.”

Schools in the borough of Hounslow achieved a collective pass rate of 99.8% for A Levels. Councillor Bruce said, “I want to send a massive congratulations to Hounslow’s A-Level students for their phenomenal effort over the last year. This year, following the cancellation of examinations, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges due to the varying impact of the pandemic.

Nationally, the proportion of A-level entries awarded an A grade or higher reached a record level with girls performing better than boys including in maths.

44.8% of UK students were awarded an A or A* grade this summer a rise of 6.3 percentage points compared with last year.

The proportion of entries awarded an A* grade this year increased to 19.1% the highest ever level since this grade was introduced in 2010.

Ofqual have published figures showing that 6.9% of students in England were awarded three A*s compared with 4.3% in 2020 and 1.6% in 2019.
