Consultation runs until 14th December
Hounslow residents are being asked for their views on how the council will engage with them on planning issues, from preparing development plan documents to consultation on planning applications.
A draft Statement of Community of Involvement (SCI) has been produced which sets out how and when residents and businesses will be involved in the planning process about changes to the built environment.
Cllr Ruth Cadbury, Hounslow’s cabinet member for planning and regeneration, said: “Involving local people in planning is key to helping shape the future development of the built environment across the borough. There should be opportunities for everyone to have a say in how their community is planned and developed, so that when we make decisions about the built environment, we know what is important to the local community.
“This updated Statement outlines the council’s commitment to engaging the community in both the development of new planning policies and decisions on planning applications. “
The changes to the current SCI, which was adopted in 2006, take into account changes in planning legislation and the Localism Act 2011.
The six-week consultation began this week (Monday 5 November) and residents have until Friday 14 December to give their views on the new engagement strategy.
