West Thames College in Isleworth has announced a change in leadership, with Marta Gajewska stepping into the role of Principal and Chief Executive Officer. Her appointment follows the retirement of Tracy Aust, who concluded her time at the college at the end of the 2024–25 academic year after 27 years of service, including eight as CEO and Principal.

Marta Gajewska assumes the position having previously contributed to the college’s strategic planning and development. The institution reports that it has achieved strong results in recent years, including being ranked highest in student achievement among London colleges for three consecutive years, and receiving an Outstanding rating from Ofsted in December 2024.

In a statement, Ms Gajewska said, “We are incredibly proud to have been ranked number one in London for student achievement for three years in a row, and to be recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted. These achievements reflect the hard work of our staff, the ambition of our students, and our unwavering commitment to excellence. That commitment continues. We will keep raising the bar — ensuring every student receives the support, education, and opportunities they need to thrive.”

She added that she plans to maintain a visible presence on campus and emphasised support for learners from all backgrounds, saying, “This is your college — a place where everyone belongs. Whatever your background, whatever your goals, we’re here to help you succeed. You’ll see me around campus — so please say hello. I care deeply about your experience and your progress.”

Ms Gajewska also highlighted the college’s partnerships with employers such as Heathrow, British Airways, Buckingham Palace, and Telford Homes as part of its approach to preparing students for post-college opportunities.

Her predecessor was known for overseeing improvements in financial stability and stakeholder relationships. In her final year, Ms Aust saw the college receive the Ofsted Outstanding designation — a goal she described as significant, but not the only measure of success. “It’s not the Ofsted Outstanding that means the most to me — it’s the fact that we are able to provide an Outstanding Student Experience for each and every student who walks through our door,” she said.
