Syon SNT spots the difference
On Wednesday 2nd December 2009, Police Constables Dan Whitehead and Andy Brooks from the Syon Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out a routine traffic stop in London Road, outside West Thames College.
The driver of the vehicle a Mr Sergeys Jegorovs, 35 years of Brewer Road Crawley West Sussex produced a Latvian Driving Licence, however on close inspection, the eagle eyed officers noticed that several security features of foreign licences were absent. The passenger Mr Anatolijs Ivanovs 41 years, of no fixed abode, on being asked to verify his details also gave police a Latvian Driving licence, which had the same security features missing.
Both men were arrested and later charged at Chiswick Police Station with possessing a false identity document. Mr Jegorovs was further charged with driving a motor vehicle with no insurance, and driving not in accordance with a driving licence. The vehicle was seized and impounded by police, and both men were remanded in custody and appeared Feltham Magistrates on 03/12/2009. They were remanded on bail to appear at Isleworth Crown Court in February 2010.
