Police Detective Charged With Rape

Brentford Section House Alleged Scene of Assault

A trainee police detective has been charged with raping a woman at accommodation provided for officers by the Metropolitan Police.

Shahzad Malik, 30, is accused of attacking the 27-year-old woman at Police Section House in Brentford, west London, on 8 January.

The woman reported being attacked two days later, saying she had met the man through a website.

Mr Malik will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on 19 May.

He has also been charged with two counts of sexual assault.

The charges follow an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the officer is suspended pending the outcome of the prosecution.
