Police appeal for witnesses to the accident on Monday

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision on Monday 1 November morning in East Sheen, SW14, in which an 85 year old local woman died. She has been named as Lorna Downing of East Sheen.

Police and London Ambulance Service teams were called at 08:53hrs on Monday 1st November to Upper Richmond Road West, near the junction with Penrhyn Crescent, following reports of a Large Goods Vehicle in collision with a pedestrian.

London Ambulance Service and HEMS attended and an 85-year old woman was taken to the Royal London Hospital where she died later that afternoon.

The lorry did not stop at the scene, but was traced by officers from Richmond Police to a location in Brentford, where the driver was arrested. He has been bailed on a date in December.
