New Website Helps Trace Stolen Goods

Chiswick's Emilie Ashley launches www.ItsBeenNicked.co.uk

Chiswick resident Emilie Ashley has recently started a free website for people to use when they have had something stolen from them.

"In my nine years of living in London many of my friends have suffered from burglary or theft," Emilie told BrentfordTW8.com. "This is why I feel it would be beneficial for other residents of London to know about and benefit from the free service my website provides.

"I came up with the idea eight months ago as friends and family had been victim to a number of burglaries where their, house contents, garden furniture and bikes had been stolen but there was no website that could help publicise what had been taken where they didn't have to pay. I also realised that if your house is burgled there is no internet opportunity to publicise the stolen items. So with the help of my family I started www.itsbeennicked.co.uk."

The aim of the website is to provide a platform for stolen items to be listed immediately a theft is discovered so that all law enforcement agencies - police, port officials (air & sea), transport police and members of the public have a nationwide database from which to operate. It can also be used by traders, antique dealers, jewellers, second hand car and machinery dealers, art galleries etc to help them avoid stolen property.

The site collects no personal details, you can look at it any time but to list an item you need a police incident number. As an optional extra you can enter your insurance company details and up to four photos if you have them. The site is completely free.
