Fifth Floor Fall in Clayponds Garden
A man has died after falling from a building in broad daylight. Christopher Hajduk is believed to have fallen from the fifth floor of a six storey block of flats in Clayponds Gardens, last Tuesday (October 19).
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Hounslow Police were called to the scene by a witness at 2.10pm and Mr Hajduk, in his mid fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene by the London Ambulance Service. Neighbours of the deceased described the incident as shocking and not what they would expect in the area.
Keith Watson, a resident of the opposite block, said: "We were celebrating my mum's eightieth, and she saw it. It's a massive shock because it is a nice safe neighbourhood.
"Obviously I saw all the police and the tape go up, and it's just a bit shocking."
Other neighbours, Mr and Mrs Ali, said: "This is one of the safest estates in Hounslow. The woman who lives upstairs was going to pick her child up from school and she saw it happen, now she doesn't want to take her kids out."
A group of young mums who also saw the incident said that they were worried their children would see the dead body. One said: "I just saw the man lying there, and not all of him was covered. I said to police 'Aren't you going to cover him?'." Another said: "We've been talking about it all afternoon and no one seems to know who he is, it is just so sad that it happened."
Next of kin were informed by police.
