Isleworth Man Sentenced to 22 Years

Vicious Attack produced life-changing injuries

A 20 year old man has been jailed for 22 years for an attempted murder at Isleworth Crown Court on 5 October having been found guilty last month..

Joseph Dolan of Summerwood Road, Isleworth was convicted of the attempted murder of Lee Collins in Feltham.

During the trial the jury heard that at around 16.50 on Friday 2 March 2012 Lee Collins was standing with a group of friends next to his new car in a service road off Elmwood Avenue, Feltham, when another car drove past. Joseph Dolan, who was the front seat passenger, spat on the ground out of the window as he passed the victim's group. Lee Collins made a comment towards Dolan.

At this point Dolan's car stopped a short distance away and he got out and approached Collins. Standing face to face with Collins, Dolan asked 'What did you say?" Without any warning Dolan removed his right hand from his jacket and stabbed Collins in the left side of his chest, penetrating his heart. He then turned and walked back to his car which drove off.

Police were called at approx 17:05hrs to reports of an altercation in a service road, off Clifton Avenue, close to the junction of Elmwood Avenue, Feltham.

Lee Collins was taken to St Mary's Hospital where he underwent extensive treatment to the heart and brain. He remained in a critical condition and was released from hospital on 27 March, however he will have ongoing left sided body weakness for life and is highly likely to require further surgery.

An incident room was opened under Acting DCI Andy Manning, Homicide Serious Crime Command. Officers quickly identified Dolan as the suspect and he was arrested on 12 March 2012 and subsequently charged.

A/DCI Manning said: "I am pleased with today's sentence which sends out a clear message that
people who engage in such mindless violence will face a long period behind bars. That is
precisely where Dolan belongs.

"This was an attack that was shocking in its brutality and the repercussions for the victim and
his family have been severe and will last a lifetime for Lee.

"Lee's life was saved thanks only to the expert medical care provided by the emergency
services.

"I hope that he and his family will take some comfort from seeing justice served."
