Police seek persistent beggar who has been recalled to prison
Darren Bingham who was jailed earlier in the year for persistent begging is once again being sought by police.
There have been reports that he's been knocking on the doors of homes in the area trying to get money from residents claiming that there is an emergency.
The police have previously described him as a conman who preys on often vulnerable victims to feed his drug habit despite being placed under an Anti-Social Behaviour Order back in May 2012 which banned him from knocking on doors or begging in a public place. Previous warnings have been given about him dating back to 2013.
Bingham has a history of turning up at people's houses at night making various false claims and asking for money. His stories are always emergency-based including that he has been locked out of his house, his father in hospital with a heart attack, or his wife is in labour.
Police say that he is been recalled to prison. They advise if you see him or he calls at your home you should not attempt to tackle him but you should call them on 101 or contact them through Twitter on @MetCC and they will handle the matter.
Last March he was sent to prison for 5 months after failing to appear in court. He was rearrested earlier this year following a number of statements submitted by residents just two days after a warning was issued that he had been spotted.
He was convicted of multiple breaches of his court order and was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment on 22 January.
