Book in advance to use Docking Station facilities….

Changes made to make it more attractive to users

Docking Station Logo

In just 12 weeks - following the Dragons Den final at the Musical Museum - the Docking Station opened in mid-March on an entirely new retail concept: an entertainment café and serviced office.   As with many new businesses, particularly in the current economic climate, some ideas worked really well, and others received more of a lukewarm response.  So three months in and changes are being made:

Book in advance to use Docking Station facilities….

From Saturday 4th June Docking Station/ 108 High St will be open to members and for private hire only.

The first floor (door on the left!) will usually be open Mon-Fri 10am-5pm - as well as members-only access to the ground floor facilities.  To use the space out of these standard hours particularly please make sure you book in advance for:

  • parties and special celebrations (typically £11.95/person including food & drink)
  • music events (negotiable)
  • gaming (£2.50/hr per person)
  • internet (£1/hr)
  • desk space (£10/day)
  • meeting rooms (£10-15/hr)
  • a quiet place to read

Book by texting Lorraine on 07884 244669 or Andrew on 07788 116159.  Remember membership is just £1 for the year so encourage your friends and family to sign-up and start using the space.  If you would like to get involved in the management of Docking Station as a volunteer please let us know - Docking Station's directors and both of us squeeze this in around other commitments - so we always need extra pairs of hands!

Our first live music events…

On Friday 8th July and Friday 16th July Helen Martin Productions in collaboration with Watermans is putting on the first live gigs at Docking Station where we will be showcasing local music talent.  We are delighted to be working with Helen and Watermans in promoting new local talent as this was a core part of the original business concept from the students of Hounslow Manor School.  You can let us know if you plan on attending by registering on Facebook:

Friday 8th July: The Pieces + The Crooks - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=210891948941341

The Pieces - winners of the Watermans battle of the bands headline the first ever gig at Docking Station - support from fantastic Brentford group The Crooks.

£5 entry and a licensed bar and snacks - 7.30-10.30pm

Friday 16th July: The Defamers + Acoustic Revs - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=164757793588441

The Defamers perform a dynamic mix of self penned rock/soul originals combined with high octane covers from Costello, Talking Heads, Bowie, Roxy Music and many more. Band members have worked with The Tom Robinson Band, Mark Knopfler, Johnny Thunders, Terence Trent Darby & Annabella Lwin. Special guests are the Acoustic Revs, a band that Helen has come across in Brentford recently, and been very impressed by their musicality and the tunefulness of their original material and the selection of songs they reinterpret!

£5 entry and a licensed bar and snacks - 7.30-10.30pm

We also look forward to a junior chess club starting here in a few weeks time - so do let us know if you are a budding young chess player (or know of any!).

Thank you for all your support since we opened.  We want to ensure the community gets the maximum benefit from the space and the training opportunities that operating it can provide - so please keep the feedback coming so we can ensure Docking Station meets your needs, and remains financially viable!

We look forward to seeing you down here soon - With best wishes,
