Brentford’s historic waterways came alive on Saturday 21 June as the fourth annual Brentford Canal Festival welcomed an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 visitors. Organised by community group Brentford Voice, the event marked its most well-attended edition to date and continues to grow as a key fixture in the local cultural calendar.
The festival was created in 2022 to celebrate Brentford’s unique canal-side identity and has since evolved into the borough’s largest free public event. This year’s programme featured live music, dance performances, food stalls, art exhibitions, and water-based activities across multiple locations including Brentford Lock Piazza, Market Place, and the Grand Union Canal Walkway.
The 2025 edition also commemorated the centenary of the Great West Road, linking Brentford’s industrial past with its evolving urban landscape. Activities included guided walks, floating markets, boat trips, and interactive installations, with six stages hosting performances from local and international acts.
A spokesperson for Brentford Voice expressed gratitude to attendees, saying, “If you came along on the day a very big thank you for attending this year’s Brentford Canal Festival, we hope you had an amazing time and we would very much like to hear your feedback about your experience.”
Visitors are invited to complete a short survey to help organisers improve future editions of the festival: Brentford Canal Festival Feedback Survey.
