Hounslow Foodbox Plans to Make Waves at Canal Fest
Charity will be raising awareness of its work at the event

Local charity Hounslow FoodBox has announced that it will be attending the Brentford Canal Festival.
Hounslow FoodBox aims to meet with locals and raise awareness of its work to support the most vulnerable in the community. The volunteer led organisation helped approximately 7,000 adults and children within Hounslow Borough in 2024, offering those in need with essential food supplies.
This one-day festival takes place between 12 noon and 6pm on Saturday 21 June, located at Brentford Basin, the gauging lock, Brentford Lock Piazza and Market Place. The free event brings together the local community to celebrate all that Brentford has to offer. This includes live music, dancing, stalls, activities, and food and drink that all the family can enjoy.
Sunny Kharbanda, Operations Manager for Hounslow FoodBox, said, “We are a small charity at the heart of the local community. It’s great to attend the Brentford Canal Festival for another year. It’s always a good platform to meet those in our community and share our work with them. We heavily rely on the kindness and time of volunteers within the Borough, and events like this are a great place to connect.”

Hounslow Community FoodBox was set up in 2012 and started delivering emergency food support to those in need from April 2013. The service was set up in response to the rising number of people facing poverty in the London Borough of Hounslow. The FoodBox service was created to help prevent poverty and support those in a time of need with both essential food supplies and assistance to get their lives back on track. Each year the number of people supported by the FoodBox has increased, and the many success stories continue to inspire and encourage their volunteers to give even more time and personal support.
