Griffin Park Jazz Club Set to Return

Will be based at a new venue – the GTech Community Stadium Hub

Griffin Park Jazz back in the old days

June 2, 2023

The relaunch of the Griffin Park Jazz Club is set to take place later this month.

The club will retain its association with Brentford FC by taking up residency at the GTech Stadium Community Hub with a special reopening night there on Monday 12 June at 8pm.

As ever the evening will feature Trad and New Orleans style jazz which has been the club’s staple for many years. However, the setting is somewhat different from the times when the Monday night events were raising money for the Bees’ fans’ collective to save the football club from closure in the dark days before the current owner took over and the team is now riding high in the Premier League.

The return comes after an absence of over three years. The last evening was held at the original Griffin Park venue before the demolition of the old stadium. The pandemic delayed the relaunch but now a tie up with Brentford’s Community Sports Trust has allowed things to get restarted.

As before jazz night will be the second Monday in the month and things kick off with Bob Dwyer's Bix and Pieces, who appeared that last night in March 2020 now returning to open the new venture.

As an extra treat (other commitments and health permitting) their excellent jazz and boogie piano man Hugh Crozier will w be there too. Hugh has a great BFC connection as his Dad Joe Crozier was a Bees goalkeeper and is a "Hall Of Famer" making 200 appearances between 1937 and 1949 our first "Golden Era" in the top division, some (who are old enough) claim he was the club’s best ever keeper.

The gig is at the Brentford FC Community Trust rooms in Underwood House at 1A Thomas Layton Way, Brentford TW8 0SB which is directly opposite and facing the away fans’ entrance of the GTech Stadium.

Entry is either a short walk from Kew Bridge Station by walking on the pedestrian path around the stadium until you get there, or from the High Street via the Leisure Centre road and down the steps to the stadium as signposted for away fans.
