Live Music Suits the Docking Station
With The Defamers and The Acoustic Revs
Docking Station, 108 Brentford High Street, hosted its second ever gig with “The Defamers” and “The Acoustic Revs” performing on Friday night.
It hosted its first ever gig on Friday 8th July when The Pieces and The Crooks played there.
Docking Station was set-up to help create local jobs, train Apprentices and strengthen spirit within the Brentford community.
The headliner, “The Defamers”, consists of Ian “Ebo” Ross (Vocals, Harp), Dani Medlin (Vocals, Percussion), Nick Medlin (Bass), Chips Chapman (Guitar), and Dave Mcintosh (Drums), with the Medlins coming down from St Albans to perform.
Despite a slightly lower than expected turnout Ian thoroughly enjoyed performing at Docking Station, Brentford saying: “I would definitely come back again. We just enjoy playing. We live a good distance away so we don’t get to practice often. We had a great time entertaining the crowd.” Those in attendance enjoyed the music immensely.
The support band, “The Acoustic Revs”, consists of Hugo Allen (Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin), Bill Ridgers (Guitar, Bass, Vocals), and Tim Fraser (Drums, Vocals). Lead singer Georgina Howson was unable to attend because she gave birth to a girl called Alba earlier than planned – mother and baby are doing very well.
They performed a selection of their own songs including Switchblade, Something had to Give, and Ten Miles as well as covers of Love Cats (The Cure), Sunny Afternoon (The Kinks), Honky Tonk Woman (The Rolling Stones).
The crowd enjoyed the mix of covers of some classic songs as well as their original songs, which provided entertainment for all in Docking Station.
Hugo said: “It was a shame more didn’t come and see “The Defamers” as they were very good. I was pleased those who did come enjoyed the music because this is a young venue and will only get better as more people hear about it and come down to support local music.”
“The Acoustic Revs” can next be seen at the Frankstock Festival in Dorset on Saturday 23rd July, where they will be playing in a yurt.
