Next Lunchtime Concert at St Paul's Open House Cafe

Isobel Peaty Plays "Mainly Chopin" on April 21st

Isobel Peaty began to learn the piano at the age of ten, under the direction of a local jazz pianist and improviser.  His unorthodox method of shunning all formal training set her on a path that would see her reject useful things like grades and scales for a more fluid approach.  She abandoned tuition after one year with little skill and only a rudimentary ability to read music.

However, three years later she set about teaching herself a piece by Chopin, and she again attempted lessons - this time with a new tutor.  That lasted a year.  It was only when she began music A-level that she took up study again, this time with former child prodigy and concert pianist, Tessa Nicholson, who taught here a great deal.

In 1999 Isobel became deputy organist at St Faith's Church, Brentford, She also plays in a band with her husband, the drummer Julian Peaty.  They live in Ealing with their three children Frederick, Eve and Florence.  Isobel works as editor of the website for Christian international aid and development agency, Tearfund.

St Paul's church hosts its regular monthly concerts on the 3rd Wednesdays of the month. Concerts start at 1.15 pm in the St.Paul's Centre, Brentford.  Join us there for lunch from 12 noon before the concert in our award winning Open House Café, or for tea afterwards. Suggested donation £3.00

St Paul's lunchtime concerts can provide a platform for established local musicians, or a valuable opportunity for students to gain experience in front of a live audience.
