A large scale cycling event is being planned in central London to celebrate International Women’s Day and you can join groups locally in feeder rides to get there safely.

The Women’s Freedom Ride takes place in central London on Sunday 5 March three days ahead of the global day of celebration of the achievements of women.

The theme of the ride is “fabulous” so people should wear whatever makes them feel fabulous.

The ride has been organised by the London Cycling Campaign and the local borough group, Hounslow Cycling along with women’s cycling group, Cycle Sisters Hounslow have a “feeder ride” so people can cycle as a group to the start of the central London ride at Marble Arch (12noon) and back again afterwards.

The feeder ride will have meeting points at Brentford Market Place (TW8 8FJ) at 9:45am and Chiswick Town Hall (W4 4JN) at 10:15am.

If you would like to join, there is no charge but the organisers ask that you register here so they can have an estimate of numbers.

You are reminded to check your bike is roadworthy before the day. Do the 'ABC' check of Air - make sure your tyres are inflated - Brakes - make sure your front and rear brakes are working - Chain - make sure it it turning and oil if needed.

They won't be stopping for refreshments during the feeder ride so bring your own water and snacks.

The feeder ride will be marshalled however it will be on roads with other traffic so the ride isn't for beginner cyclists and people should have experience cycling on roads. Any under 18s and vulnerable adults must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
