Brentford School for Girls is thrilled that Year eight student Zakia Mossi won Bronze in the 800 metres National Athletics Championship at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham last Saturday.

Zakia said ‘It was a very special to win bronze, I was the youngest participant there, I didn’t expect to come third. I was pushed to the back at the start of the race but I fought my way to the front and was delighted to take the bronze medal position. My goal for 2018 is to win Gold.

Zakia’s Mum, Nicola added ‘A truly successful championship. She won her heat with ease on the Friday and had to wait a nervous 24hrs for the final on the Saturday. Competing against all year nine girls she did so well to win a Bronze medal finishing third in the country. Not many year 8s make it to the National Championships so she has certainly put BSFG on the map’

Head of Year eight Mrs Rogers said ‘we are so proud of her achievements, she is a hard working student and excels in everything she does. She is truly committed to her sport and is now reaping the rewards of all her hard work! Well done Zakia- I’m booking my ticket to the Olympics in 2020,-Tokyo here we come.
