Helping young people kick-start their careers

i-Connect event for 16-24 year old to discuss everything to do with work and education

Young people who are looking for work, training or volunteering opportunities can get help and advice at an event next week.

i-Connect is taking place on Thursday, 4 October, from 4-7pm at St Giles Hotel in Feltham, to give 16-24 year olds the chance to discuss careers, the job market, apprenticeships, further education, training, work experience and volunteering.

Cllr Steve Curran, cabinet member for education at the council, said:

“This event is a great way to engage with young people, and their parents and carers, to show them what opportunities there are available to them.

“But it is just one way we offer young people access to the many career opportunities available in the borough.

“We are working hard, across a range of services, to make sure every young person has the chance to reach their potential.”

The event is being organised by Connexions, working in partnership with Hounslow Job Centre Plus, the council’s Adult Education service, West Thames College, training providers and other partner agencies.

There will be speakers and interactive demonstrations throughout the event, and advisers will be on hand with plenty of helpful advice and information to help young people make informed choices.
