Evacuees Wanted

Kew Bridge Steam Museum looking for evacuees to talk to students

Kew Bridge Steam Museum would like to contact anyone local who experienced evacuation, and who is willing to talk to school children to participate in their ‘Waterworks at War’ schools event on Friday 7th October 2011.

Building on the success of the inaugural event held in 2010, the museum would like to add a special element to the week with the chance for children to interact with someone who experienced evacuation for real.

This will be one of several sessions exploring aspects of life on the Home Front during the Second World War including clothes rationing, food rationing, the role of the Home Guard and ARP Wardens.

With several schools visiting that day this will mean a full day of interacting with the children, but we have arranged for lunch-breaks and extra breaks during the day and can provide tea or coffee and biscuits.

If you can help please contact Jo Willis, the Education Officer, on 020 8568 4757 or via jo@kbsm.org
