Access pathway now temporarily closed
The refurbishment of Osterley Library, which started in April 2010, is progressing to schedule and the reopening of the library on the 26th July is on target to be achieved as planned.
Significant progress has already been made, as installation of the new roof membrane has now been completed in conjunction with high level concrete repairs. This work was proceeded by remedial structural repairs to the masonry, which is also complete. In the interior, the enabling and stripping out works are now complete and we are well advanced in installing the new internal mechanical and electrical infrastructure and plastering of the internal walls. The ceiling grid is due to commence shortly.
The next stage of the refurbishment works is the creation of the new entrance, which will create a more discernable and imposing entrance which will be complemented by an enhanced landscaping scheme. In order to facilitate the works it is deemed necessary, on grounds of health and safety, to close off the access pathway from the Great West Road through to St Margaret’s Crescent - that currently runs past the library. Customers can still access the mobile library via Thornbury Road and St Mary’s Crescent.
The access way will be closed from Thursday June 3rd until approximately 1st July 2010.
John Laing Integrated Services who are managing the refurbishment of the library on behalf of the London Borough of Hounslow will ensure that appropriate signage is in place to inform members of the public of the temporary closure of the pathway and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
