Brentford History Talk

Brentford Library bringing people together in community event

On Monday 18th March at Brentford Library Andrea Cameron delivered a fascinating and detailed account of the History of Brentford, followed by a lively question and answer session.

38 people attended the event, a number of whom hadn't visited Brentford Library before, and a number of others had to be turned away simply due to lack of space.  There was a good mix of current and ex - residents, older Brentfordians, and younger people who have recently moved to the area.

As with the recent Chiswick Library tour, the attendees stayed behind to chat to each other and to the Local Studies team for nearly an hour after the end of the talk, so this was also a good community event and contributed to the sense of the Library as a social/communal space. Several local history books and other items were sold.

More events of this kind, which contribute to the cultural life of the Borough, promote the Libraries and bring disparate people together are planned for Brentford during the rest of the year.
