Brentford's Local Real Ale Pub a Contender
The Magpie and Crown has settled down nicely after a good year with landlady Tam Burns who provides an excellent selection of real ales, ciders, perrys as well as 5 Belgian draught beers and a varied selection of Belgian and German bottled beers. Changing beers are listed on their twitter feed shown here.
Tam and her staff are welcoming and chatty and are very willing to offer tastes of any beer available so visitors can make an educated choice of drink.
A new kitchen has been installed with a small menu that delivers good British pub grub with high quality such as Cumberland sausage and mash, beef pie cooked in la Chouffe, burger and chips as well as a rocquefotr tart.
The Magpie has reached the final three in the shortlist to become the Pub of the Year in the Richmond and Hounslow CAMRA branch competition. The winner will be announced during the Twickenham Beer Festival at York House, Richmond Road on October 27 and we wish them luck.
The winner for the last two years has been the also excellent Red Lion in Isleworth.
