Mulberry Centre Wants Support from Will Power

Cancer support charity making an appeal in Remember a Charity Week

Cora Philips will be remembering The Mulberry Centre in her will

The Mulberry Centre in Isleworth is marking Remember a Charity Week by making an appeal for you to leave a bequest to them in your will.

This annual event promotes legacy gifts to charities. According to research, 40% of people say they are ‘happy to leave a gift to charity’ in their will but only 17% have done so and 60% of adults do not currently have a one.

Although based at the same site as the West Middlesex University Hospital, it is a completely independent charity and totally reliant on donations, grants, sponsorship, and local fundraising to provide support to cancer sufferers for free.

One in two people are expected to develop cancer at some point in their lives, as it remains the leading cause of death in the UK, and an increasing number of people (either as a patient, carer or bereaved) are registering with The Mulberry Centre.

Cora Philips, a retired chemist said, “I have volunteered as a Welcomer for The Mulberry Centre since 2005. Over the years, I have seen first-hand how the Centre has made such a difference to so many people affected by cancer.

“The charity has grown from strength to strength and I would like it to continue for as long as possible. This is the reason I have decided to leave a gift in my Will to The Mulberry Centre.

“With all the wonderful work they do, I am very happy to be able to contribute in my own little way and hope other will be encouraged to do the same.”

Preparing a will early means your wishes can be met and you can include a gift to a charity leaving a legacy and passing on something wonderful to future generations.

You can contact The Mulberry Centre team on 0208 321 6300 or fundraising@themulberrycentre.co.uk for further information.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

We are therefore asking our readers to consider offering financial support to these efforts. Any money given will help support community and public interest news and the expansion of our coverage in this area.

A suggested monthly payment is £8 but we would be grateful for any amount for instance if you think this site offers the equivalent value of a subscription to a daily printed newspaper you may wish to consider £20 per month. If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.

If you do support us in this way we’d be interested to hear what kind of articles you would like to see more of on the site – send your suggestions to the editor.

For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you’d like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT. All payments are made through a secure web site.
