Have A Say In Local Healthcare

NHS Hounslow Seeks Lay Members

NHS Hounslow seeking a chair and three independent lay members to help develop their provider organisation

They are looking to recruit a chair and three independent lay members to help develop a provider organisation called Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare.

These independent committee members will balance the provider committee’s executive team to form a new Interim Board which will take the organisation forward.

Sarah Cuthbert, Acting Chair, NHS Hounslow commented “These are challenging but ultimately worthwhile positions which will test your skills in leadership, strategy, governance, public engagement and service improvement.  The prize is to provide the highest quality of community services which can ensure the well-being of significant numbers of clients and patients of all ages and backgrounds, many of whom have long term healthcare requirements.”

Sarah added “The chair and three independent lay members will combine experience of leadership at board level in the private, voluntary or statutory sectors with an understanding of the importance of patient care and high quality service delivery to the diverse population that we serve.”

Those interested in finding out more about the roles and how to apply can go to http://www.hounslowpct.nhs.uk/hpct_vacancies.html

The closing dates are 1 December 2009 for the chair and 8 January 2010 for the lay members.

NHS Hounslow is responsible for the health of over 250,000 people living in Bedfont, Brentford, Chiswick, Feltham, Hanworth, Heston, Hounslow and Isleworth. It plans, delives and purchases a range of care and treatment to meet local health needs, using NHS money to make a difference to

  • decide how NHS funds are spent locally
  • arrange for healthcare in hospitals, in community and by GPs and dentists
  • ensure there are healthcare options and choices for patients
  • improve the standard of healthcare
  • advise and help local people on staying healthy

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare will be formed from NHS Hounslow and NHS Richmond’s provider arms. When fully merged it will have a turnover £54 million and employ 1,100 dedicated staff.  The organisation is working towards greater independence and ultimately legal separation as an external organisation, separate from the two PCTs. The form of which is yet to be determined. We are now setting up a strong Interim Board to ensure effective governance and to prepare for independence..
