Fourth Delay in Announcement of Tesco/Homebase Decision
Michael Gove now scheduled to rule on inquiry outcome in November

According to the Osterley & Wyke Green Residents' Association (OWGRA), there has been yet another delay in the announcement of the outcome of the Tesco/Homebase public inquiry.
This is now the fourth time there has been a postponement of the publication of the decision by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities on the massive twin projects.
The Secretary of State, Michael Gove, was originally due to make the announcement on 15 March but this was put back to July and then, when this deadline loomed with no explanation given, it was announced that it would be in September.
The Minister is still considering the report of the Inspector Mrs J A Vyse which will decide whether the proposal to build 16 tower blocks of up to 17 storeys high on the sites of Tesco’s in Osterley and Homebase on Syon Lane will proceed.
Assuming the decision is made on the new date of 2 November, that will be 20 months since the opening of the inquiry and a year after its conclusion.
Opponents of the plan, which was first put forward four years ago, are hoping that Mr Gove will accept their argument that the high-rise nature of the scheme is inappropriate in an area characterised by two and three storey housing.
The Campaign Coordinator for OWGRA said, “All we can do is wait patiently and continue to hope for a good decision.”
