Decoy Vehicle Used to Target Thefts

Policing Update for February

Metropolitan Police
The team have concentrated their efforts in theft from motor vehicle hot spot areas within Chiswick and Brentford. The team have used a decoy vehicle, with valuables on display, kitted out with hidden cameras. Crime prevention leaflets have been left on vehicles in other areas, warning drivers not to leave valuables on display. As a result of information received from residents, a warrant was executed on a known offender. Since then the amount of reported crimes has reduced.

Operation HAWK continues across the borough, acting on information supplied by local residents, to disrupt criminals. The team have executed numerous warrants resulting in Class A and Class B drugs being seized, resulting in several arrests.

The team continue to represent the sector during Operation CUBO, stopping vehicles motorists and checking motorist's insurance and licences. The latest operation was run in February in Chiswick High Road, outside Brentford Leisure Centre, resulting in 2 vehicles being seized for having no insurance, 1 arrest for drink/drive and several penalty notices issued for drugs. Operation CUBO will continue throughout 2012.
