St Paul's Successful Summer Fair

Over 300 people attended St Paul's Summer Fair on Saturday. Rain made a brief visit but it was mostly dry and sunny without the baking heat of the previous week. Councillor Caroline Andrews kindly dropped by for a visit, as did Councillor Andrew Dakers in support of brag who held a table at the fair.

A Year six student, about to depart for the heady heights of secondary school said "It was the best school fair ever!"

Dr Baxter sports a very beautiful purple cross, one of four designs voted for by the public and created by Jeffrey's Hairdresser (of Brentford High Street). If you've been to see him at the Albany Practice this week you will have witnessed this exclusive event. Dr Baxter raised almost two hundred pounds with his haircut and has promised to keep it for a week.

The police came for a brief visit and Sergeant Murphy was pelted by cold and wet sponges for 5 minutes, much to the amusement of his colleagues

Abbaration, sponsored by Thorgills Estate Agent provided 2 sets comprising Abba's best hits, culminating in a sing along with several staff members, including St Paul's headteacher, Mrs James. People sang and danced along with the well known tunes.

Afriklub Dance Group have been learning their dance routine in school and were very pleased to finally perform it in front of their friends and family, which they did with smiles and concentration.

Ming Sing Chinese Food of Brook Road South fame kindly dontated food that disappeared very quickly and a selection of other food also went down well.

Tim Barnes, Brentford's local magician entertained a tough audience with a mix of card tricks, magic and balloon artistry. Despite a loud but young voice from the audience complaining "that's not real magic, that's just tricks" he succeeded in enthralling the children, many of whom have never seen a magician up close.

Parents. staff and carers worked very hard to make this year's fair a successful event, with too many stalls and events to mention by name. The PFA would like to thank all those who gave their support and to the school staff for giving up their free time to participate as well.

Anyone who signs up online to this website with a valid registration for the newsletter between 4th July and 18th July will also generate 50p for the school so please encourage your neighbours and friends to sign up too.
