A Level Results from Hounslow

Record results for local students

It’s been another record year for local schools, with  A-level successes across the borough. An overall A level pass rate of 99% (1%) above the National average) included six schools who achieved a 100% pass rate

Local schools have also bucked the downward national trend for high achievers with the proportion of students gaining A* and A grades rising from 22 to 24 per cent.

Cranford Community College quadrupled the proportion of students getting A*s, rising from 3 per cent last year, to 12 per cent. Gumley House RC Convent School, Gunnersbury Catholic School and Chiswick School also achieved a high proportion of A*’s.

Feltham Community College saw a big improvement in the number of top grades, with a 17 per cent increase in students achieving A*-A. They also increased the proportion of A*-Cs from 41 to 68 per cent, and had a 100 per cent pass rate.

Gumley and St Marks Catholic School both saw improvements from an already strong position, and are among the 6 schools, including Hounslow Manor, which achieved the 100 per cent pass rate.

Cllr Steve Curran, cabinet member for education and housing, said:

“These results show that local schools are helping our young people achieve the best possible start in life.

“It’s great to see the improvements in the top grades at A level, alongside notable success for students following vocational pathways., which shows schools are really working hard to make sure all students are achieving their potential.

“I’d like to personally congratulate everyone involved in helping achieve these results for their hard work, and wish all our students every success for the future whether they continue in education or enter the workplace.”

Judith Pettersen, director of children’s services, said:

“The improvements we’ve seen from our schools over recent years have been extraordinary.

“This is down to the hard work of teachers, school leaders, and the wonderful young people we have in the borough, who know that by working hard, they can go on to achieve remarkable success.”

As well as A-levels, students across the borough have received their vocational qualification results. Notable successes include Brentford School for Girls and Chiswick, where students’ results will see many going on to university or apprenticeships.

Both Cranford and Lampton School saw their BTEC business students achieving well, with high numbers of students achieving Distinction*’grades.
