Children
get free entry to Steam Museum
Kew Bridge
Steam Museum is not fooling around this
April 1
It might
seem like an April Fools, but Kew Bridge
Steam Museum's announcement that children can get free entry to the museum
from Friday April 1, 2005, is no joke. The museum believes that all children
should have access to the wonderful learning opportunities it presents
and is offering free entry to all children.
The first
free event children can get fired up at is
the sixth Stirling Hot Air Engine Rally on Sunday April 3. The rally will
bring together probably the most diverse collection of Stirling and Hot
Air engines ever assembled
under one roof.
Lesley Bossine,
Director of the Museum said: " We are delighted to announce that
children can now enjoy our collection and exhibitions for free. All we
ask is that they are accompanied by an adult. We hope this opportunity
is
embraced by families looking for a fun and informative day out."
Visitors
will be able to see over 80 working engines taking part in the rally and
will also get the chance to meet the experts and find out more about these
fascinating engines. There will be model and full size engines, some coal
fired and others solar powered, on show in the museum's Steam Hall, Mezzanine
floor and around the Water for Life Gallery. The engine competition will
feature Stirling engined model buggys racing round a track circuit. A
special class has been added to the competition to allow children to enter
engines powered by fizzy pop bottles. Schools or parents wishing to enter
the childrens' competition should contact the museum
for guidelines.
