With an estimated six months or restoration work
The school, LDBS and Hounslow have been working very well together to get St Paul's School ready for reopening.
Currently we anticipate that we will be able to use the current year 3 and 4 classrooms & toilets, the main hall/servery, the Early Years unit (nursery/reception) and the main offices at the front of the building. All of the other areas of the school building have been affected by the fire and it is anticipated that the restoration work will be completed by February 1/2 term although this date may change.
As an interim measure a number of portable classrooms and toilets will be sited on the main playground which will enable us to reopen for all of our children. The anticipated date for these to be ready for use is by Monday 16th September. Nearly 2 weeks after term is due to start.
We know that this will cause a number of you child care issues as you had expected your children to be at school. We will be running a school club from Tuesday 3rd September between the hours of 08:50 and 15:30. You are asked to register if you need this service by sending an email to office@stpauls.hounslow.sch.uk or, from Tuesday 27th August, call the office on 020 8560 3297 and leave a message. Arrangements are being made for children who attend breakfast and/or after school clubs and these will be sent to parents/carers that use this service separately.
There will be a meeting for parents/carers on Thursday 29th August at 7.30 pm at St Paul's Church. We hope to have representatives from Hounslow and the LDBS join us so that we can answer any questions you may have. The meeting is open to all parents/carers.
We want to keep you as fully informed as possible and the BrentfordTW8 website editor has kindly agreed to publish these letters so that the whole community is aware of what is happening. The website address is www.brentfordtw8.com.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge all of the offers of help and support we have been receiving. We appreciate all of these and will certainly ask for any help that is needed. The insurers have very good and robust plans for dealing with this kind of incident and have already fast tracked a number of items that will allow us to open quickly. They are as committed to getting the school open again as we all are. I also want to thank the LDBS and Hounslow for their 'can do, will do' approach. It has been a real blessing to all of us that everybody has been pulling together with the single objective of returning things to as normal as possible so that our children can receive their education to the high standards you have come to expect from St Paul's.
Best regards,
Glenn Greene
