Grassroots Grants – funding for small local groups

Get your money while you still can!

You may know a large number of small voluntary groups based in your area who are doing great work for the benefit of you, your children and other members of the community.

These groups could probably use some more funding to expand their range of activities, run projects, buy some equipment or simply to cover their running costs.

This is where Grassroots Grants can help with a grant of up to £5,000. This is the last year of the programme so we are encouraging groups to take the opportunity to apply, as there is no guarantee such type of funding will continue next year. There is £85,000 allocated to your borough, and we would very much like the money to go to groups in your area rather than go back to the government if it is not allocated.

There are two basic eligibility criteria – groups must have an annual income of less than £30,000 and must have been in existence and active in the local community for at least 12 months before making an application.

Local groups such as tenants and residents associations, scouts and guides, luncheon clubs, pre- and after school clubs, sports clubs, youth projects, local music, arts or drama groups, among many, many others, could all be eligible.

There is funding available now so please do encourage any community/voluntary groups you come across in your work to think about applying - the earlier the better!  We will be running closing date each month between February and June, the next closing date is 26th February.
