Delay blamed on weather as concrete cannot be laid in freezing conditions
Thames Water has announced that the recent cold weather is to blame for the delay in reopening London Road.
London Road reopened late Wednesday night.
Thames Water explained that concrete is not normally laid under freezing conditions and as a result, they will lay the concrete on Wednesday when the temperature is expected to rise. The road is then expected to reopen on Thursday.
A water main burst outside the Holiday Inn in London Road, Brentford on 1 February. The incident created a hole approximately 10 metres squared in the road. Since then, Brentford High Street has been open for traffic to access the shops and residential properties but closed to through traffic, which is being diverted via Half Acre, the A4 and Syon Lane around the scene of the incident.
As a result of the burst, a number of properties were temporarily without water for a short time. The car park of the Holiday Inn was flooded, as was the basement of O’Neill’s pub on London Road. Thames Water loss adjusters have been in contact with both affected properties.
