Attempted Murder Charge After Five Pedestrians Injured

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of five people following the serious collision in Ealing Broadway on Saturday afternoon, after a car struck pedestrians outside Marks & Spencer.
Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, of Grange Park, Ealing, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, as well as dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and criminal damage. Mohamed, who is a Somalia-born British man, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates ’ Court on Monday 29 June.
Police were called to The Broadway at 2.29pm on Saturday 27 June after reports that a car had collided with multiple pedestrians. Emergency services, including London’s Air Ambulance, attended within minutes. Five people were injured: two were treated at the scene, and three were taken to hospital, where their injuries were confirmed to be non-life-threatening and non-life-changing.
The car involved did not stop. It was located shortly afterwards in nearby Grange Park, where officers arrested Mohamed.
Because of the nature of the incident, local officers consulted Counter Terrorism Policing London during the early stages of the investigation. Police say they are keeping an open mind about motive, but the incident is not being treated as terrorism.
The collision led to the closure of The Broadway between Marks & Spencer and the junction with The Mall for several hours, causing significant disruption to buses and traffic through Ealing Broadway.
One eyewitness, a 46-year-old local man, described arriving shortly after the casualties had been taken to hospital. He said he and his companion had been switching buses after travelling on the 112 from Brent Cross IKEA. “Thank God the hotdogs in their Swedish Bistro are so good,” he said, “otherwise we wouldn’t have stayed for second helpings and probably would’ve been crossing that exact spot when the incident occurred.”
He added that buses were being diverted or forced to terminate early. “We had a heck of a job trying to get the 65 bus as they were having to terminate in front of the Broadway Centre entrance on High Street near Pitshanger Park and turn round to return in the direction of South Ealing.”
Police are appealing for witnesses and any relevant footage. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference 4607/27JUN.
