Four people were forced to flee their home when a fire broke out in flats at Hanwell this Sunday (6 April).

The Fire Brigade received the first of six calls about the incident at 8:43pm and mobilised crews from Southall, Acton and Heston fire stations for a response of four fire engines and around 25 firefighters.

The blaze at the mid-terraced house converted into flats on Cowper Road required the use of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders as an observation tower to provide the Incident Commander with an aerial view of the fire.

The occupants of the building were treated at the scene by paramedics but none required admission to hospital.

The fire was under control by 10:13pm by which time most of the first floor and loft space were damaged by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
