The Ealing Charity Christmas Card Shop opened this week for its 38th festive season in the centre of town.
The all-volunteer shop at the Church of Christ the Saviour, New Broadway (W5 2XA) sells cards from 24 charities. It is one of the few charity Christmas card shops where 100% of the money raised goes to charity.
Sue Green, who co-founded the Ealing Charity Christmas Card Shop in 1985 said, “Thanks to our 50 incredible volunteers we’ve come through the disruption of the past two years and we’re looking forward this year to raising over £20,000 for our charities.”
The card shop was officially opened on 3 November by Ealing’s Immediate Past Mayor, Councillor Munir Ahmed. He paid tribute to the scores of volunteers who’ve helped out in the shop’s four decades and declared, “The great job done by volunteers like you shows Ealing at its best.”
With total sales since 1985 approaching £900,000, the Ealing Charity Christmas Card Shop has supported more than 100 charities and sold 5million cards to over 21,000 customers.
