Ealing's Veteran Politicians Vow To Fight On
All three Ealing Labour MPs have now declared they will stand again
Two of Ealing's long serving politicians have announced their intentions to stand again in the snap election on 8 June.
Steve Pound has been an MP for twenty years representing Ealing North for Labour. Approaching 69 this year Mr Pound says he has no intention of taking things easy, '' In keeping with the rest of the country I’m working past the traditional retirement date and, at the moment, as I’m in pretty good health and as my appetite for serving the people of Ealing North is undiminished I’ll be putting myself forward fore-election .
''Ultimately it is, of course, up to the people of our part of the world but there is so much danger of social division being engineered by the Conservatives that I have to play my bit in opposing the false economy of austerity, defending the NHS and working for a fairer more positive exit from the European Union.''
Mr Pound held the seat winning 26,745 votes and increased his share of the vote by 4.7% in the 2015 Election.

Meanwhile, another Labour veteran, Virendra Sharma, 70, has confirmed he too will be standing again in Ealing Southall.
A former Ealing Councillor, Mr Sharma took over the seat in a by-election following the death of the sitting Labour MP, Piara Khabra in 2007.
In 2015 he held the seat with 28,147 votes nearly 19,000 more than his Tory rival.

The Ealing Central and Acton Labour MP, Rupa Huq has already declared she will be standing - a seat she took with the slimmest majority in 2015.
