Labour member pays visit to the newly refurbished centre

Ealing Southall MP, Virendra Sharma, recently met workers at the The Log Cabin on Northfield Avenue to find out more about the work they do and the services they offer for children with disabilities.

The Log Cabin is open for After School Club, all-day Holiday Play schemes and Saturday Club, and they also offer sessions to special schools and special needs units. 85% of the children and young people who visit the Log Cabin have additional needs or disabilities and many are in need.

The Log Cabin provides transport for all those who need it, as many families struggle to take disabled children on public transport. The children and young people who come to the Log Cabin have physical, learning and cognitive difficulties, visual and hearing impairment, emotional difficulties and challenging behaviour. Many have autism, and some have complex medical needs. 40% have profound or multiple disabilities and require 1:1 or even 2:1 support from our staff and volunteers.

Virendra Sharma MP said: ''The Log Cabin is a place where children who can become isolated nd excluded can be included and free. It is a wonderful place to engage children in a range of activities such as arts and craft and sports. The Log Cabin offers an extraordinary place for the children to be free in a safe and fun environment and I’m grateful that the Log Cabin can provide this service. I wish there were more places like this!''

Chair of Trustees at the Log Cabin, Helen Johnson said: ''The Log Cabin makes a positive difference to the lives of 270 children and young people aged 4-15 who have the widest range of disabilities and additional needs, or who are in need, and their families by providing exciting and stimulating play and leisure opportunities in a safe, caring, inclusive and fun environment''.
