Those attending St. Benedict’s School’s recent production of The Addams Family have described it as dazzling.

The audience saw some amazing solo performances in the show's three-night run, as well as some fantastic ensemble and whole cast scenes.

The musical comedy with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice ran for three nights in early February.

The ghoulish Addams family, conventional Beineke family, and a host of ghostly ancestors were brought to life by the talented cast with style, energy, and perfect comic timing. The singing, acting and choreography were all superb, supported by an excellent band and chorus.

The story focuses on the romance between Wednesday Addams (Kyra Nelson: Y12) and Lucas Beineke (Mark Maalouf: Y12), who is from a ‘normal’ Ohio family but is yet to meet the macabre Addams clan. Wednesday confides in her father, Gomez ( played by Toby Daniels-Shayvard: Y13), that they wish to marry, and asks that he keeps her secret from her mother, Morticia (Kate Kenny: Y12). Uncle Fester (Angus Macallister: Y12), a great romantic, tries to keep the young couple together but the youngest member of the family, Pugsley (Charlie Ambrose: Y12), would rather keep them apart. The dinner at the Addams' family home turns out to be rather more eventful than planned…

The main characters, including Grandma Addams (Amelia Young: Y12), the Beineke parents (Mak Selimovic, Y12; Natalia McFadzean, Y13) and Lurch the butler (Inigo Bigland: Y12), with the additional cast of ghouls supported by a backstage crew, make-up team, lighting and sound technicians - all on a set of Hammer horror staircases.

The show was produced by Mark Randall (Head of Drama at St Benedict's) and the Musical Director was Amy John (Assistant Director of Music).
